Asparagus Continuity Collection

Our Asparagus Continuity Collection includes three varieties of asparagus which cover the whole asparagus cropping season. Asparagus is a low maintenance but high value crop which continues producing for years.  With this collection you can enjoy delicious fresh asparagus spears all the way from April through to June.

Asparagus Continuity Collection comprises 30 Crowns, 10 each of the following varieties: (Supplied as one year old crowns)

• Asparagus ‘Gijnlim’ – This reliable variety produces succulent green spears with dark purple tips, from early in the season. Asparagus ‘Gijnlim’ is an ‘all male’ variety. With no need for seed production, it puts all its energy into producing top quality spears; so, you can expect heavier yields than most varieties. The tender spears are delicious when lightly steamed as a side dish or added to salads. Height: 150cm (59″). Spread: 45cm (18″). 
• Asparagus ‘Backlim’ – Asparagus ‘Backlim’ is a vigorous, all-male, mid-late cropping variety which is extremely popular with commercial growers. It produces fine, straight spears with a firm tip which are excellent for producing white spears as well as green. It bears compact foliage and has high resistance to hollowness, pink discoloration, and rust. Height: 75cm (30″). Spread: 60cm (24″).
• Asparagus ‘Guelph Millenium’ – this late cropping variety comes from Canadian breeding making it particularly cold tolerant and well suited to UK weather conditions. Producing high yields of purple-tipped, green spears, Asparagus ‘Guelph Millennium’ is reliable in most soils. Height: 150cm (59″). Spread: 45cm (18″).
